SR is a Patent protected sustainable FRP product that is designed to last. With its lightweight, superior strength and non-corrosive properties, It is an FRP hollow bar . The size of the core could be manufactured to the desired specifications. The core could be filled or left hollow at part or its entire length.Whe the bar is embedded in concrete or other cementious or rubberized materials, it adds durability, strength and sustainability to structures. The outer coarse surface finish of the profiles provides the mechanical bonding to the external materials. It’s not only add strength, its non-corrosive, enables construction of hollow core structures both in factory (Precast) and in situ on more or less any construction site.

FRP has been around since the mid-20th century. The use of Fiber Reinforced Polymer in the construction industry has come a long way from its limited uses by the aviation industry. SR may be suitable as an alternative to steel reinforcement  in structures which are highly susceptible to corrosion. SR may be suitable alternative to steel reinforcing for use in structures which are highly susceptible to corrosion.

Concrete exposed to de-icing salts in: bridge decks, walkways, footpath, median barriers and salt storage facilities etc. would benefit from SR non-corrosive properties. Concrete exposed to marine salts in seawalls, water breaks, buildings and structures near waterfront, aquaculture operations, floating marine docks and may more marine projects would be also benefit from these properties.

Due to the transparency to magnetic fields and radio frequencies, the SR would be suitable for concrete structures used near electromagnetic equipment such as MRI room in hospitals, airport radio & compass calibration pads. Over the years, many sealants and other costly protection has been applied over concrete structures as moisture barriers but this has only slower corrosion in the steel reinforcement and add to construction cost. With the use of SR, it will provide solutions to the long standing corrosive issues, reduce the cost of construction and minimize maintenance of the concrete structure.

The soaring cost of replacement for ageing and problematic wooden poles throughout the world has been an area of concerns for the utilities & communications department. The disruption to electrical distribution during replacement of these utilities and communications infrastructures is a massive financial loss to the government, businesses and community as a whole. In some states, the Utility commissions have recommended for non-wood utility poles to be developed to prevent outages, hazards caused by fallen electrical poles during natural disasters and ongoing maintenance.

Innovative solutions are being developed and invested in to increase the life expectancy of poles and minimize any adverse effects.

The electromagnetic transparency of FRP composite materials, as well as the weight to strength ratio has prompted manufacturers to design utility and decorative light poles and accessories that will be more sustainable. SR can be manufactured using different types of plastic materials. Fiber Reinforced Polymer and thermosetting resins such as polyester, epoxy, vinyl ester etc., available to achieve the desired outcomes for the required projects.

It also comes in different profiles and finishes depending on the customers project requirements. Due to its versatility, the SR can be used in conjunction with many other existing construction products on the market.

SR has the ability to create a concrete structure completely free from corrosion throughout its life cycle. Composite in construction was amongst the top three market segments in the US in 2014.According to recent projection, it is estimated that composite in the construction sectors is likely to stimulate the composite market through 2020 and beyond (Composite Growth 2015, ACMA). There is an increase demand in the US, China, India, Russia, Germany and Europe.

Imagine the saving that could be made by using the SR. In the US alone, it is estimated that US$12.8 Billion is spent on repairing concrete structures reinforced with steel such as bridges and walkways.

The reduction in volume of concrete used due to the SR hollow core technology and the reduction in steel reinforcement members required due to the SR superior strength, makes it a viable option as a starting point to reducing carbon emission.

The mechanical properties of SR makes it a more appealing product to be introduced In construction projects.

Amongst some of the advantages for Its use in concrete are:

  • Corrosion resistant
  • Superior strength
  • Maintenance free
  • Impact resistance
  • Electromagnetic transparency
  • Lighter structures
  • The hollow core makes it ideal for use as conduit for services.
  • Cost savings
  • Leaner (but stronger) concrete structures
  • Better sound proofing
